Did Anyone Leave the House Yesterday

Terrestrial telly had it all yesterday. For once.

Sky or BT did not get a penny of my money and I’m pretty sure the only person who did was my local off-licence.

And I was hugely rewarded with a Saturday of sport which had it all. Now – we knew the French would beat the Italians in The Six Nations Rugby but it was hardly overwhelming at 25-4.

Even so, the powers that be need to look at Italy’s inclusion in a tough tournament in which they failed to win (or put up a threat) in any game again. That match was followed by a Grand Slam winning victory for Wales over Ireland 25-7. What happened to Ireland in St Paddy’s weekend?

And then probably the maddest game of Rugby I’ve ever seen!

At Twickenham England are 24 points ahead of Scotland at half-time and looking to get a cricket score in the second period. The Scots, however, had another plan in mind. What followed was six unanswered Scottish tries that shocked an unsuspecting home side.

It was brilliant stuff and at one point looked like an unlikely away win for Scotland and this would have happened had it not been for England’s George Ford to make it 38-38 at the death. A draw in International Rugby? Who backed that?

And finally we had Wolverhampton Wanderers at home to Manchester United in the FA Cup. Wolves played like Barcelona!. Don’t believe it when people tell you United were out of sorts.

Wolves were simply the better side and goals from Jota and Jimenez saw the home side through to the semi-finals.
